We are a class of Prep students, sharing all that's happening in our classroom. This blog was started by the first group of Gems, a Year One class back in 2007. We, the 2012 Gems are proud to continue on the conversation. You can read, watch and listen as we share our learning journey - a journey where we 'learn to blog' and 'blog to learn'. Please visit regularly to see what's new and join in the conversation - we'd love for you to be part of our learning.

MRS M'S BACK AND WE DID 'GO MATHS'!

COOL!! That's what we said when Mrs M said we were working in our 'GO MATHS' books today.
It was our first time working in this book.
We felt very grown up!

We did some activities on patterning. We had to continue a pattern or draw in the missing part. It was REALLY easy because we do patterning ALL the time!

Are you a 'PATTERNING PERFECTO', 1M? Can you continue these patterns?

1.Let's start with an easy one.
Continue it on two places - they are........, .............
What type of pattern is this?

2.Now try this one - it's trickier.
What comes next?
This pattern is a _ _ _ _ pattern.

3. This one seems a little harder, but it's not.
Where will the stars on the next two wreaths be? Top? Bottom? Left? Right?
They will be ........, ...........
What type of pattern is this one?

4.You're a real PATTERNING PERFECTO if you can get this one!
Continue this pattern on for 5 places-........, ........, ........, ........, ........
Can you name this pattern in two ways?
It's an _ _ pattern or if you look closely, it's an _ _ _ _ _ pattern.

LET'S SEE HOW MANY OF YOU ARE A PATTERNING PERFECTO!
POST A COMMENT WITH YOUR ANSWERS!!

Hi there Mrs M,

I tried very hard and I think they are,
1. red, pink, red, pink - it is an AB pattern
2. upside down would come next - an AAAB pattern
3. next is top, bottom - an ABCD pattern
4. tomato, pencils, tomato, pencils, tomato - both an ABABC pattern and an AB pattern

I love working with patterns.
