GROWING WITH GROWING PATTERNS

Today our room was a 'patterning paradise'.
We had so much fun patterning, that we patterned for hours!
Mrs M couldn't stop us. We didn't even want to go out for Snack!

We were investigating GROWING patterns and we amazed Mrs M and even ourselves with what we discovered!
Can you work out the rule for each of these patterns?
Can you represent each pattern with a number pattern?
Can you apply the rule to tell what comes next?

Pattern 1:

Pattern 3:

Pattern 4: this one's tricky but if you apply the rule, you should be able to work out the starting number, even though you can't see all the blocks.

Pattern 5:
Pattern 6:
We kept this number pattern going all the way to 99 and we didn't have to keep applying the rule because we found a shortcut - a pattern in the pattern.

Hi Mrs M. I love the patterns on the blog and had fun working them out with my Mum. Pattern 1 is adding on four and the answer is thirty-six. Pattern 2 is adding on two and the answer is nine. Number 3 is adding on five and the answer is sixteen. Pattern 4 you add on one and the answer is thirteen. Pattern 5 is adding on three and the answer is 13. I liked Pattern 6 because it was tricky but I thought hard and worked it out. It is adding on two, then three, then four and keep going. The answer is twenty-one.

Great work Callum! I 'd like you to have a closer look at Pattern 4. Think about which way you read the other patterns. Do you read this pattern the same way?
Can you wirk out some number patterns of your own to put on the blog?

I know the pattern for 1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15,17,19,21,23,25,
27,29,31,33,35,37,39,41,43,45,47,49I like this pattern.

All of the patterns are very good.I have seen that there are sume realy good patterns.
