We are a class of Prep students, sharing all that's happening in our classroom. This blog was started by the first group of Gems, a Year One class back in 2007. We, the 2012 Gems are proud to continue on the conversation. You can read, watch and listen as we share our learning journey - a journey where we 'learn to blog' and 'blog to learn'. Please visit regularly to see what's new and join in the conversation - we'd love for you to be part of our learning.

'GOOGLE EARTH' WORKSHOPS

'GOOGLE EARTH' has been the talk of our classroom this week.
All of us have been waiting excitedly for Jarvis and Ben to teach
us how to use 'GOOGLE EARTH'.

Today the wait was over for some of us - the 'GOOGLE EARTH' WORKSHOPS began!

Jarvis and Ben showed us how to open
GOOGLE EARTH.
We learnt to type what we wanted to look
for in the SEARCH bar.

Searching for volcanoes was very popular.

We found lots
in ICELAND.

We also found some in AFRICA and if
we clicked on the little white balls, we could see a picture and read about these volcanoes.

We wanted to explore SYDNEY in
GOOGLE EARTH because that's where
Courtney went on the holidays.
We found the spelling of 'Sydney' in her
writing journal and typed it into the
SEARCH bar.

She found Sydney Harbour and showed us where the OPERA HOUSE, DARLING HARBOUR and TARONGA ZOO are.

We read about LUNA PARK and wished we had somewhere like that here.

We had fun clicking on all the little white balls and looking at pictures of all the things you can see in SYDNEY.

Courtney even found the building where her unit was.

Now that's amazing!

We had SOOOO much fun exploring our world with GOOGLE EARTH.
We wanted to play on Google Earth ALL DAY!!!
Jarvis and Ben were EXCELLENT teachers and now four more of us can help in the 'GOOGLE EARTH' WORKSHOPS.
REMEMBER, IF YOU FIND SOMETHING AMAZING ON 'GOOGLE EARTH', EMAIL IT TO US AT 1mgems@gmail.com . THEN WE CAN POST IT ON THE BLOG AND WE CAN ALL SHARE IN THE WONDERS OF OUR WORLD.
