We are a class of Prep students, sharing all that's happening in our classroom. This blog was started by the first group of Gems, a Year One class back in 2007. We, the 2012 Gems are proud to continue on the conversation. You can read, watch and listen as we share our learning journey - a journey where we 'learn to blog' and 'blog to learn'. Please visit regularly to see what's new and join in the conversation - we'd love for you to be part of our learning.

BEN'S RESPONSE

Ben correctly identified the school in Jarvis' 'GOOGLE EARTH' post and was even so clever to notice 'when' the satellite picture was taken. WELL DONE, BEN!

Ben also sent an email. He said...

I have found my house on Google Earth. We also found my dad's work at the Port of Brisbane and saw some fishing spots that we go to.
(of course Ben didn't include pictures of their fishing sites - you have to keep them a 'secret'!)
HAVE YOU FOUND YOUR HOUSE ON GOOGLE EARTH?
WHAT OTHER PLACES CAN YOU FIND?
EMAIL THEM TO 1mgems@gmail.com AND WE'LL SEE IF WE CAN GUESS WHERE THEY ARE.

Well, Gems, you've done it again! Brought something delightful to my life! Google Earth! Sorry to be gone so long. Just after we spoke last, I fell terribly ill with strep throat. (Do you know what that is? It's terribly yucky. No fun at all.) Had to take antibiotics and everything. I was down for the count, on the sofa, moaning and groaning, the whole nine yards, as we say here in America.

At any rate, I'm back, and better than ever.

And I've Google-Earthed my own house. If you'd like to Google Earth where I live, I'll send my address to your teacher. (You'll forgive me if I don't post my private home address to the Internet.) You will see that I live a half-mile away from a set of baseball fields. Baseball is a VERY big sport here in America. My dog Tucker and I walk down to the baseball fields -- well, actually, we SNEAK down to the baseball fields -- when no one is there, and I let him run, run, run. Tucker is a very big 75 pound dog who needs a lot of exercise, and I have a very small yard. You will see, when you look at my neighborhood, that I do in fact live in a city. Sort of.

I will write again soon.

Much love,

Elizabeth

p.s. I think we are magically connected, by the way. I have begun writing some stories based on Dolch sight words.
