Today is the beginning of LENT. It is ASH WEDNESDAY.Lent is a season in the Church year - the 40 days before Easter.
We went to the Church for a liturgy.
We saw purple cloths and banners .
Purple is the colour for Lent.
We listened to two stories. One was a Bible story - the story of Zacchaeus. The other story was 'Miss Lily's Pink Feather Boa'- a children's picture book.
Both stories reminded us about making good choices.
We had the Sign of the Cross placed on our foreheads with ash. It is a sign that we are part of God's family and we are trying, just like Zacchaeus, to be good!
We are going to try to make a 'difference' each day this Lent by:
being caringbeing a good friend and including others in our games
being helpful and thoughtful
co-operating
sharing
cheering someone upsaying sorry
paying someone a compliment
giving to the poor
