We are a class of Prep students, sharing all that's happening in our classroom. This blog was started by the first group of Gems, a Year One class back in 2007. We, the 2012 Gems are proud to continue on the conversation. You can read, watch and listen as we share our learning journey - a journey where we 'learn to blog' and 'blog to learn'. Please visit regularly to see what's new and join in the conversation - we'd love for you to be part of our learning.

WHAT WE CAN TEACH OTHERS
Last week we left comments about what we could teach each
other on our DO YOU HAVE TO BE A TEACHER TO TEACH? post.
We talked about how you could find someone to teach you how to do gymnastics or how to play soccer.

We knew a good place to start is the YELLOW PAGES and we thought it would be a good idea to make our own 1M YELLOW PAGES. Then it would be easy to know who could teach us what we wanted to learn!
We started by making a list of all the things that children in 1M could teach each other.

NOW WE HAVE OUR 'THINKING CAPS' ON.

WE'RE THINKING:
WHAT WILL OUR AD SAY?
WILL WE HAVE A PICTURE IN OUR AD?
ARE WE GOING TO GIVE OURSELVES A 'SPECIAL NAME'?
WHERE COULD WE LOOK FOR IDEAS?
WHAT ARE YOU THINKING, 1M? SHARE YOUR IDEAS IN A COMMENT.

WE CAN DO IT, MRS M!
We have been 'busy bees' working on our blog this week because we have had special helpers EVERY DAY!

Today when Mrs M went to make the 'sign-up' sheet we said- "WE CAN DO IT, MRS M".
We copied the words 'Sign up to comment' from yesterday's sheet.
Mrs M wrote the Mum's names for us .Then we added in the dots for our names... and started signing up!
It takes a while for us to make a sign-up sheet and 'sign up' each day.
We decided it would be faster if we had a laminated 'sign-up' sheet so we just have to add the names each day.
We also thought it was a good idea to 'sign-up' the afternoon before so we would be ready the next morning.
WHAT A SUPER IDEA, 1M. HOW CLEVER YOU ARE!
YOU CAN HELP CREATE ONE ON MONDAY!

TODAY WAS COMMENT DAY!

we are VERY lucky!
This morning, Mrs B and Mrs P came in AGAIN to help us with our blog!
We signed up again to work with either Mrs B or Mrs P.
We decided that we wanted to leave comments today. Mrs B and Mrs P helped us read the posts and type our comments. We also looked at 1G's blog and left lots of comments there too!
This afternoon we had a V.I.P. from Brisbane Catholic Education visit us and talk to us about our blog.We shared how we decide what goes on the blog.
Jack, Harrison, Jacob and Patrick knew
which buttons to click on to upload, size
and position a photo into a post.
Our visitor was VERY IMPRESSED!!

MORE BLOG HELPERS!
THANKYOU to Mrs P and Mrs B who helped us post to the blog today. Even though we had some 'technical' problems, everyone on our blog 'sign -up' sheet got to post. You were very quick learners. We think you are absolute....

GETTING ON THE COMPUTER - THE PROCESS
How was Mrs.Harvey going to know who wanted to post to the blog? What order would we go in?
How would we know who had posted?
Mrs M said that when she goes to 'teacher school' she sometimes has to 'sign up' for a workshop.
We liked this idea. We knew it would help Mrs Harvey.
We drew up a 'sign up' sheet and added our names to the list.
When we had finished adding our post to the blog, we ticked off our name on the list. Then we read who to get next.
The list helped us keep track of who had posted and who was still waiting for their turn.
We're going to use a 'POST SIGN UP" everyday!
What else could we use a 'SIGN UP SHEET' for 1M? Leave a comment with your suggestions.
