EXPLORING 'E'

This week we have been investigating the letter 'E'.

We discovered that 'e' can make 2 sounds.

One is a 'short' sound, like we hear at the beginning of 'egg'.

The other is a 'l o n g' sound, like in 'emu'. We hear 'e' saying it's name.

Here are all the 'e' words we thought of or found. We've sorted them by 'short' sound or 'l o n g' sound. Mrs M said it was an EXCELLENT EFFORT!

SHORT 'E':

egg, eggcup, echidna, excellent, edge, extra, empire(we knew this word because of 'Star Wars') effort, electric, elastic, eleven, empty, energy, emperor (we knew this word because of 'Happy Feet'), engine, end, enter, envelope, environment, EFTPOS, eskimo, ever, everyone, everybody, everything, everywhere, exit, EKKA (short for exhibition - our annual show/fair is known as this), expensive, exercise
