We are a class of Prep students, sharing all that's happening in our classroom. This blog was started by the first group of Gems, a Year One class back in 2007. We, the 2012 Gems are proud to continue on the conversation. You can read, watch and listen as we share our learning journey - a journey where we 'learn to blog' and 'blog to learn'. Please visit regularly to see what's new and join in the conversation - we'd love for you to be part of our learning.

ASSEMBLY DAY AGAIN!

It's Wednesday and that means Assembly.
The 1M GEMS who received awards this week were:

*Isabella - a 'Super Sentence Maker', especially with the word 'and'

*Jack- a 'Word Wall Whizz' in the making

*Courtney - for adding *SPARKLE* to our room with your smile and love of learning

*Bryce - our resident 'ideas' man (including 3 new word wall cheers today - more about them tomorrow)

Our ENVIRONMENT TEAM lead the Assembly today.
As part of CLEAN UP SCHOOLS DAY last week, they encouraged us to be creative with recyclable materials.

Here are some of the AMAZING creations.

Year 6J made some stunning hats out of old news papers.

The year 4's recycled plastic bags for their creations.

We thought the turtle and the swan were AWESOME!
CLICK ON THE TURTLE TO LEARN WHY PLASTICS ARE HARMFUL TO OUR SEA LIFE.

But both Prep classes had the best. They used plastic bottletops for their creation.
They called him BOTTLETOP BILL!

Before you throw your items in the recycling bin, think about what you could make.

Bring in your creation to show!

IT'S WEDNESDAY- ASSEMBLY DAY!

Today at Assembly, 5 1M Gems received awards.

They were:Naomi - for being an 'Awesome Author'!
Ben - the 'Comment King' on our blog!
Johanna - inspiring and challenging us with your patterns!
Callum - our 'Super Sentence Maker'!
Lachlan - a smiling and valued member of '1M Cleaning Services'!

We listened to the Year Twos tell us about the virtue of 'Cleanliness' and how we need to care for our environment.

Like Captain Planet, we are trying to get pollution 'down to zero'.

We pick up rubbish BIG and small... inside our classroom
and from the gutters and shaded area outside.
We all need to look after our school.

Do the right thing...make every day CLEAN UP SCHOOLS DAY!

PUT YOUR RUBBISH IN THE BIN!

Sunday March 4 is 'CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY'.

What are you doing, 1M to help our environment?
