We are a class of Prep students, sharing all that's happening in our classroom. This blog was started by the first group of Gems, a Year One class back in 2007. We, the 2012 Gems are proud to continue on the conversation. You can read, watch and listen as we share our learning journey - a journey where we 'learn to blog' and 'blog to learn'. Please visit regularly to see what's new and join in the conversation - we'd love for you to be part of our learning.

IT'S 'PIG' DAY!!

Today, at last, was 'PIG' Day!

All Lent, we have been donating money to PROJECT COMPASSION, to help families in Vietnam buy pigs. So that's why we had a 'PIG' Day.

We dressed up in pink or like pigs.

Each class paraded around so we could look at everyone's costumes.

Even the teachers had costumes.

Mrs M was all in pink, with 'pig' ears, and a 'pig' nose.

She even had a 'pig' tail!

Mrs R from CARITAS gave each class a certificate to thank us for all the money we have raised.
The whole school total was $3547.75!

That means 64 pigs and 16 families like Y Re's will get 4 pigs each. Then they can fatten them up, sell them and get money to buy fruit and vegetable seeds.

Flynn won the prize for the 'BEST' pig costume in 1M. He got a 'pig' toy to hang off his school bag.
Callum and Naomi got 'pig' stickers for coming 2nd and 3rd.

Mrs M won a 'pig' mug for having the BEST 'pig' costume by a TEACHER!

We really liked Mrs M's 'pig' nose and we wouldn't let her take it off until after snack!

We think 'PIG' Day was a good idea and we liked being able to help the poor people in a FUN way.

PROJECT COMPASSION UPDATE

On Monday we watched and listened as the JUSTICE TEAM gave us a PROJECT COMPASSION update.

They told us that last week the whole school raised $705.65! THAT'S ENOUGH FOR NEARLY 16 PIGS! We watched as they put together 2 'pig' jigsaws and the rest went into the 'pig sty'.

This week we have raised $100! It took us a long time to count it. There were so many coins!
We can't wait to hear what the school total is on Monday. Mrs M thinks it will be over $1000!
We're also counting down to 'PIG' day, when we can come dressed as pigs (or wear pink), have a 'pig' parade and hand over all the money we have raised. THERE'S 18 MORE SLEEPS!

1M, WHEN WE GIVE MONEY TO HELP THE POOR, WE SHOW WE ARE THINKING OF OTHERS. WE ARE MAKING A 'GOOD CHOICE'.
WHAT OTHER 'GOOD CHOICES' HAVE YOU BEEN MAKING?
THE LINK BELOW TAKES YOU TO A LEARNING OBJECT I MADE. CAN YOU PICK THE 'GOOD' CHOICES FROM THE 'BAD'?
